Reflexology #01

Reflexology is a therapy that is believed to date back to China over 5000 years ago. Many cultures have since used it but a revival in the 20th centuary led to the development of reflexology as we know it today.

Reflexology is a therapy in which the therapist works with the client to stimulate the body's innate healing powers by the application of finger pressure to reflex points on the feet which are believed to correspond to parts of the body to aid healing to the whole person, not just the immediate symptoms.

There are many forms of reflexology including Vertical Reflex Therapy,Advanced Reflexology Techniques, Gentle touch Reflexology,Chi Reflexology and Ayurvedic Reflexology which all work to unblock energy blockages within the body by the use of finger pressure on the reflex points.
Each therapist can feel subtle changes within the reflex points and will work on these using a variety of techniques and pressure.

A course of treatments depending on the initial consultation is recommended, having completed these many people opt to continue with regular treatments to maintain their health and wellbeing.

People of all ages including babies, children and the elderly may benefit from this therapy.

As a Reflexologist I work in a relaxed manner, intuitively, with a variety of finger pressure techniques to the reflex points on the whole foot but with emphasis on the body systems that need specifically treating.

Reflexology #02baby reflex was developed by Jenny Lee, a chartered Physiotherapist and Reflexologist following on from 15 years extensive research into the effects of regular reflexology on children with asthma. The main effects of relaxation, improved sleep and parent/child bonding led Jenny to create baby reflex in 2005.
Baby reflex is a gentle form of Reflexology for babies from one to ten months and toddlers from ten months onwards. It is taught to parents, either on a one to one basis or in groups, by a qualified baby reflex practitioner for parents to use at any time, anywhere and without the need to undress baby.
Baby reflex promotes relaxation in babies and toddlers and strenghtens the natural bond between parent and child.
